Erin Tracy of Oradell Leads Student Orientation Team at Scranton

2014 Jul 3

Erin Tracy of Oradell is among the student leaders of The University of Scranton's orientation team who will host two-day orientation sessions for the more than 1,000 members of its incoming Class of 2018 and their parents and guests July 7-8, 10-11, 14-15 and 17-18 at locations throughout campus.

Members of the Jesuit university's incoming class represent more than 500 high schools. They are from 11 states and several countries, including Nigeria, China and India.

Tracy is a Nursing major at Scranton.

Orientation is designed to introduce new students and their families to the University's procedures, facilities and support services, and to provide them with the opportunity to meet with faculty, administrators, staff, as well as each other.

At the July orientation sessions, students complete chemistry, mathematics, foreign language and composition placement tests. They also meet academic advisors, attend presentations on support services and extracurricular activities, and participate in recreational and social events. Parents and guests learn about the new role they will play as they transition to becoming a parent of a college student and are briefed on the resources and programs offered by Campus Ministries, Information Resources, Financial Aid, the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence and other departments at the University.

The entire class of 2018 will assemble on campus for the first time at Fall Welcome Weekend on Saturday, Aug. 23, and Sunday, Aug. 24.
