Nina Alesi of Yorktown Heights Honored for Academic Achievement

Nina Alesi of Yorktown Heights was among the 63 members of The University of Scranton's undergraduate class of 2014 honored for academic excellence, service or both at Class Night on May 30. Also recognized were the University's four Fulbright scholarship recipients for the 2014-2015 academic year. Alesi was the recipient of the Operations Management Award. An operations management major, Alesi was a member of the business and management clubs and a member of the Omega Beta Sigma Honor Society. She also was a singer in The University of Scranton Choir and a member of the ukulele band. Her future plans include becoming certified in production and inventory management (AICPS CPIM) and pursuing a career in operations management with a focus on supply chain, logistics and material control. She graduated from Yorktown High School in Yorktown Heights, N.Y. Barbuto was the recipient of the Excellence in Media Information Technology Award. A media information technology major with a double minor in studio arts and history, Barbuto was student chapter treasurer for the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM). He interned with O'Boyle and Associates LLC and consulted with Endivium to redesign the Prana Yoga website. Barbuto will pursue a front-end web design position and looks to eventually become a lead front-end engineer. He graduated from Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, N.Y. McHenry was the recipient of the Excellence in Health Advocacy Award. A community health education major with a minor in counseling and human services, McHenry was treasurer of the Eta Sigma Gamma Honor Society, vice president of the Community Education Club and was named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. She also received the Student Affairs Recognition Leadership Award. Caitlin hopes to continue work with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. She graduated from Walter Panas High School in Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.
