Peter Portanova of Saint James Honored at Commencement

Peter Portanova of Saint James was among the 63 members of The University of Scranton's undergraduate class of 2014 honored for academic excellence, service or both at Class Night on May 30. Also recognized were the University's four Fulbright scholarship recipients for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Kelly Crowley was the recipient of the Lawrence A. Mann Award. An occupational therapy and philosophy double major, Crowley was a member of the Special Jesuit Liberal Arts Honors Program (SJLA), a resident assistant and part of the Cura Personalis program for four years. Crowley will return to The University of Scranton as a graduate student in the occupational therapy program. She will also be a resident assistant in Redington Hall and a graduate assistant with University Ministry. After finishing her master's degree in occupational therapy, she would like to travel and volunteer her OT services to people and places in need. Peter Portanova was the recipient of the Student Life Award. A marketing major, Portanova was a member of the Business Leadership Honors Program and the Beta Gamma Sigma and Alpha Sigma Nu honor societies. He has also served as a resident assistant, an executive board member of The University of Scranton Programming Board (USPB) and a retreat leader and extraordinary minister for University Ministry. Portanova's future plans include pursuing employment with a marketing and financial services company as well as earning his MBA from The University of Scranton.
